Coming Down To the Wire - Renovations in the last stages

After months of work and passionate thinking the Barney Library is very near to renovation completion.
A new furnace, remodeled space, a new elevator, the addition of a teen's area are just some of the changes.
Painting and finishing work have yet to happen, but the structural componet is complete.
It is going to be so beautiful when it opens again in late fall.

The restrooms will be fabulous!

A peek into the first floor play room, it will hold a train table and chairs for parents

View of the children's room, on the first level, features natual light and a clean spacious feel.

The second floor gallery room will have new base boards and molding.
The open doors have been replaced by full length windows.

On the second floor there is an entrance to the gallery and community room

The elevator makes it easy to go from downstairs to up.

The Bookdrop loads inside so books will be protected from the elements.

Second Floor holds a new Program Room for Children's presentations and storytimes/

This newly remodeled area includes a brand new elevator, an inside bookdrop and single paned widows.

Rotary Fundraiser for Barney

The Rotary Club of Farmington presents "Lobster on Main Street" 71 Main Street, in front of the Barney Library, Sunday September 13, 3 to 6 pm, Rain or Shine.

Various meals available, Lobster $30, Steak $30, Surf&Turf, $45, Kids Meal $5.

Proceeds will benefit the Barney Renovation, Hope Day School in Sierra Leone & the Farmington Fire Department. Tickets available at the Farmington Library or call 647-0020 or 677-8484 for more info.

Tag Sale

The Barney Library Tag Sale will be Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29 from 9 am to 2pm. For residents to discover a treasure or retrieve a piece of Farmington history. All proceeds go to the Barney Renovations and Additions Project Fund.

Beginning to Move

The Barney Library will close on Thursday, August 13 at 5 p.m. in preparation for renovations which will be completed in September 2010. The collection is in the process of being systematically moved to the main Library beginning July 28th. A final Tag sale will take place on Friday August 28th and Saturday August 29th for residents to discover a treasure or retrieve a piece of Farmington History. All proceeds from the Tag Sale will go to the Barney Renovations and additions project fund.

We continue to ask for contributions to the renovations fund to allow this project to be completed with all the important technology and collections required to operate in the 21st century.
